Skandranon, His Black Majesty

Well, I've always wanted to do a photomanipulation, and I've been meaning to draw Skandranon for quite some time. I might as well kill two birds with one stone, no pun intended.

Skandranon Rashkae is one of the main characters of The Mage Wars trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. The books consist of the following: The Black Gryphon, The White Gryphon, and The Silver Gryphon. Excellent books, and Skandranon is such a charming character; who can resist him?

He is defined as having "...gleaming ebony feathers, majestic wingspan, keen magesight, and sharp intelligence...," quoted from the back of the first book itself. The cover art by Jody Lee depicts him as being black with a purple tinting, so that's why I used that here.

Photomanipulation is crazy, man. My computer froze up at least three times in the process of creating this image; how ridiculous is that? I was working with large, large files, so that is why. But I love the result. I think it's very powerful and dark.
